Opinion – The 49ers are going to The Super Bowl

The 49ers, the sixth seed in the NFC, are now playing for the NFC Championship against the Rams and will win the 2022 Super Bowl.

At the start of playoffs, the 49ers did not really show that they could win. They beat the Cowboys, who only make it to playoffs every year by beating bad teams only to lose in the Wildcard round every year.

The 49ers did prove they are contenders this past weekend in a big way by beating the No. 1 seed, Green Bay Packers. They did prove themselves in this game on special teams with a blocked field goal and blocked punt – the first team to do both in a playoff game since the Buffalo Bills accomplished this feat in 1988.

However, they have a very shaky offense. They could not find any rhythm till the second half.

They were getting beaten by dropped passes, and the Packers defense was putting pressure on Jimmy Garoppolo, forcing bad throws and getting sacks on crucial third downs.

However, don’t let that distract you from the fact that the 49ers defense was also putting the pressure on Rodgers. Once the 49ers found an answer for Green Bay’s star wide receiver Davante Adams, the game began to turn in the 49ers favor.

The 49ers’ special teams played a huge role in their win over the Packers this weekend. With a huge blocked punt late in the fourth quarter recovered by the 49ers, rookie Talanoa Hufanga took it in for a touchdown, tying up the game 10-10.

Giving the ball to Aaron Rodgers with about five minutes left was scary, but the 49ers defense stepped up, put pressure on Rodgers and double teamed Davante Adams to force a 4 and out. This led to the 49ers getting the ball back with three minutes left, and the Niners kicked the game-winning field goal as time expired with four seconds left.

The 49ers now play the Rams, who they have beat six consecutive times in the regular season. It should be a good game that sends the 49ers to the Super Bowl, where they will either get a second match up against the Chiefs, or will face Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals –  who have surprised us this postseason.

If the Bengals make it past the Chiefs and the 49ers make it past the Rams, it will lead to a rematch of the 49ers’ first Super Bowl victory. This would be exactly forty years prior – a game that made Joe Montana a household name.

I believe with careful execution and a good game plan, the 49ers will take this year’s Super Bowl.
