This year, the annual Enochs High School Eagles Got Talent show will be this Wednesday night at 6:30pm in the MPR. Tickets will be only five dollars, unless students have an Entourage Card, in which case admissions are free.
Leadership Advisor Mrs. Mariano explains a rough outline of the event.
“There’s a lot of singing, some singing and students are playing instruments. We have several really good dancers, a couple kids playing piano, [and] quite a few of them are playing guitar!”, Mariano says.
“There may be a special guest performing that may be one of our campus supervisors,” she hinted.
There is most definitely a process, however, to organizing the talent show, from participants, students and staff members alike.
“All the students that are performing had to try out in front of a panel of leadership kids to decide if they were going to make it,” Mariano says. “Myself, Mr. Montelongo and a student have been doing work with the sound system just to make sure that there [are] no issues, because that’s kind of something that tends to pop up. We want to make sure that they sound their best. ”
The courage and confidence that performers are required to muster when on stage is often overlooked, yet it’s one of Mariano’s favorite things about the event.
“We definitely have a lot of talented kids at this show, and that’s why this is one of my favorite things, because they actually get a chance to put themselves out there and showcase that for the school,” says Mariano.
When asked why students should consider attending the talent show, Mariano said, “Because there [are] 14-15 acts and about 25 of their classmates that are putting themselves out there, showing their talents, being kind of vulnerable and putting themselves on the stage.”
“So, it’s nice to go and support them and see what cool things our students can do outside of the normal academics and sports,” says Mariano.
To conclude, Mariano stated, “It’s usually a packed house. I love the support that other kids will give to their classmates. It’s super fun and exciting.”
Mark your calendars, because it will no doubt be a night to remember!
