Hello, and welcome to another year of The Eagle Eye, the student newspaper of James C. Enochs High School! My name is Anah Khan, and as your Editor-In-Chief for the fourth year of this organization, I would like to cordially invite you to spend another exciting season with us.
The Eagle Eye is a fluid publication. We’re always coming up with new, innovative ideas to push us to the next level, and we do it all to better inform our readers, whether they’re students, staff, parents, or anyone in particular. Every year is better than the last, and I am sure that this one will be a year to remember.
The numerous and comprehensive facets of The Eagle Eye are what make us unique. From our fascinating website articles to our podcasts, we make sure that we’re covering every medium of coverage for news and the like.
Our student numbers are completely maxed out this year, and while that does mean a very loud 1st period every day, it also means we have many more minds, voices, talents, and passions ready to invest themselves into making The Eagle Eye a creative hub.
Furthermore, it means that this year, there will be something for everyone. Mr. Campbell and I have worked together to develop staff positions for every reporter curated to their interests and passions. Some things to look forward to are a movie column, a music podcast, frequently updated sports scores, and an active social media presence that will likely include exclusive behind-the-scenes content as well as promotions.
Another way we’re looking to elevate our publication this year is to get more involved in the school itself. Around the second semester, around 5 of our staff members will pair up with 5 students from Enochs’ Leadership class to start off our high school’s first-ever video announcements program! Exciting opportunities like these are all scattered throughout the school year, and I can’t wait to see them all come into fruition.
But a newspaper is nothing without its readers. In the end, our goal is to make an impact on those who read our words, who see our photographs, and who hear our voices. If an article is published and no one is around to read it, does it even make a difference? Our reporters are mostly seniors now, just about ready to graduate and step into the real world. Soon, we won’t just be informing about changes in the world around us, we’ll have to be making those changes.
That being said, explore our website, listen to an episode of The Enochs Essence, stay awhile. I’m sure I speak on behalf of our entire publication when I assure you that we are dedicated to informing, inspiring, and immersing you all into the happenings around Enochs High School, Modesto, California, and even the world. Help us grow as a publication by sharing our media, providing feedback, and supporting us in any way possible.
Keep an eye out for updates as we make this year of The Eagle Eye the best one yet!
