Reporter’s Note: Although this article was published after the Apple Event, this report was written before the Apple Event.
Indeed, an Apple Event will be occurring. Indeed, despite the ubiquity of Apple’s iPhone, few people are aware of this event occurring. This event occurs every autumn and goes over Apple’s next hardware lineup. This, alongside the hardware releases which come soon after the Apple Event, coincidentally align with the end of Apple’s fiscal year. Essentially, think of this as their “New Year’s Campaign,” even if the year truly starts in January.
Apple has quite the history involving yearly events, during the late 90s and early 00s, Apple had “MacWorld,” where Apple presents their newer models of the Mac. World-Wide Developer Conference (WWDC) is also another yearly presentation that Apple presents, focusing more on the software side of its hardware so that developers can more quickly develop applications for Apple’s future software before the general public gains access to the software. This Apple Event, however, will focus more on hardware – iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches, Apple TVs, and their newest product: Apple Vision Pro.
Apple has a tendency to release its new iPhone model around fall, every year. With this, Apple’s iPhone 16 will most certainly be announced, especially after leaks. Apple has locked their featured “Apple Intelligence” behind the top two models of the iPhone 15; the base model therefore has no access to it. Their newest iPhone 16 will, alongside the better A17 Chip accompanying it, will likely feature “Apple Intelligence” on all of its models, however many. On the topic of models, Apple is expected to change its camera alignment to be vertical, similar to the camera alignment of the iPhone X (pronounced “iPhone Ten”). Such camera alignment would make shooting “3D Videos” for the Apple Vision Pro easier on an iPhone.
Because Apple has released the M4 Chip for their iPad Pro models, a new lineup of M4 iMacs should be expected. All Silicon-based iMacs are compatible with “Apple Intelligence,” which will be released this fall. Due to pre-release images of said model, a new Apple Watch model is also expected to be released in this Apple Event. The Apple Watch will contain a substantially smaller bezel and will be considered a Series 10 Apple Watch.
The Apple Vision Pro has a smaller chance of being mentioned due to how early the product was released, but if it is mentioned, it would not be unprecedented. Apple has released the iPhone 3G before the original iPhone (retroactively named iPhone 2G) was released in India and China, and Apple’s iPad now also has a generational launch schedule around the same time as the iPhone – October – even though the iPad was originally released in February, the same time that the Apple Vision Pro was released. If it were to be mentioned, a more consumer-based Apple Vision (without the “Pro” suffix) would be released more likely.
Apple also has a home appliance lineup of products, including the HomePod and the Apple TV. Apple Events usually do not cover these appliances, but such updates on these products is not impossible.
You can watch the Apple event on your Apple TV (both the steaming service and the physical Apple TV device) or YouTube. The event will be live-streamed during school hours and last at least forty (40) minutes, so do not watch it live unless you want to piss off your teachers.
The public has a range of opinions regarding the Apple Event. Some have no interest nor knowledge of the Apple Event at all, while other organizations like Mac 9-to-5 have been busy leaking many details about the event within the past week.
Unfortunately, due to the obscurity of the Apple Event, no persons who had previous knowledge of the Apple Event were able to be interviewed. However, with the common consumer tradition of ditching last year’s model for the next year model and Apple’s extensive advertising campaign, there is likely to be some opinion of the iPhone 16 after its official reveal.
