During this pandemic, there have been a lot of political and racial views on display.

Throughout quarantine, there has been lots of discussion about race on social media between kids and adults as well as on television. Lots of marches and protests have occurred over the past two years.

As a black female in America, I definitely see a lot of racism going on in my community and also around the world. Not only are black Americans being targeted, but lots of people of color are also being targeted for simply just existing. I believe that all people of color and anyone who supports the movement for justice should all unite as one huge force and protest and fight against these racial injustices. I feel like in many communities the people are very closed off and closed-minded and I think we all need to take a moment to learn about each other and come together to support one another instead of being divided by race.

I believe schools need to start at a young age teaching kids about not only issues that happened a long time ago, but issues that are happening in our community now. I think if we just took a moment or two and stopped being distracted by social media and television, and actually started learning about each other’s history and culture it could help us understand these struggles we go through today.

Recently, there have been several injustices within the Asian community and the black community that can be attributed to racism, and in our classes and school nobody seems to talk about these issues and they get pushed to the side. We need to wake up and start paying attention to what’s going on in our community, and what better way to do that than spread awareness.

People can simply educate themselves by just taking five minutes to read a book or watch an educational show. Lots of people don’t know why we fight for injustices and it’s because these injustices have been going on since the dawn of time and it’s time for us to come together and do something about it. It’s something as easy as taking your kids to an educational museum or watching the news or anything that can open your eyes to the world around you.

If nobody knows what happened in the past history will repeat itself, so it’s time for all of us to get serious. Racial injustices have been happening for decades and probably will still continue but there is power in numbers and if we could all just join together and fight for one another it would truly be a wonderful and miraculous thing.

Some of the racial injustices that have been observed recently have involved police officers and people who are supposed to be protecting our community. Recently a young man named Daunte Wright had been wrongfully shot for a misdemeanor. Also, the death of George Floyd. Some of the police and people who are supposed to be in charge of protecting our community are the ones committing some of these injustices. This is not even half of the racial injustices that have been going on with POC in our communities.

Many killings and racial injustices need to be brought to light by our folks in our areas. We need to spread awareness about racism in our neighborhoods. If you don’t know about what’s going on how are you supposed to fight for it? Schools and social media need to make it their number one priority to make sure kids have proper information on these topics because there are so many silent injustices going on within our area that need to be brought to light.

If we never talk about anything we will never get anywhere.
