About
The Enochs Eagle Eye is the student-published online newspaper of the student body at James C. Enochs High School in Modesto, California. Made up of students from 9th through 12th grade, The Eagle Eye strives to be the voice of the student body while chronicling the high school experience for the more than 2,700 students that attend Enochs High School. The Eagle Eye is a student Free Speech forum – the articles are selected, written, edited, and posted by students within the journalism program at James C. Enochs High School.
Submitting Comments
The Eagle Eye welcomes comments from Enochs students and those close to them on our stories. However, in an effort to control spam and ensure that every participant lives up to the stated goal of being “respectful” to everybody on campus, moderation will be used. Comments that are off-topic, include profanity or sexually explicit wording, attack individuals or groups, or make comments that demean any specific sex, race, religion, sexual orientation, disability, gender, or anything else that could be considered an “attack,” will not be posted. Comments that could be classified as bullying, threatening, trolling, or encouraging of illegal behavior – or comments that could be deemed libelous or violate copyright or privacy protections – will not be published. All posters must use their real names and provide a means of verification such as an email address (which will not be posted).
Reaching Our Goals
The Eagle Eye strives to be a voice of the James C. Enochs High School campus student body and will work to uphold the ethics and integrity expected of student journalists. In order to fulfill our commitment to educate and inform students on and around the Enochs campus, the Eagle Eye will strive to meet the following goals:
Editorial Goals
- Expand student awareness of events both on and off campus, in our community, and in the world at large
- To create content that is engaging, interesting, and relevant to the student body
- To write accurate, well-informed pieces from reliable sources
- To ensure that student voices are heard and that students have a say in what is happening on campus and in their community
- To be a reliable and consistent source of news and information
Commitment to Student Free Speech
The journalists of the Eagle Eye are dedicated to upholding the integrity of the newspaper and the school as a whole with the content that we publish. The column and editorial pieces published on this website reflect the ideas and opinions of the author(s) who write them, and not Enochs High School as a whole.
Every interviewee should feel comfortable saying what they want and express their feelings and opinions without restriction, judgment, or censorship; while not every part of an interview will be published those records will be protected and taken into consideration during the writing process. Those that we interview should feel protected and know that anonymity is a right given to them if they wish to do so. Not everyone will agree with the writing that is put out on this website and that is okay, in fact, it is encouraged – as that is the right given in our freedom of speech.
The Eagle Eye is dedicated to serving our students and ensuring that our right – and the student’s right – to freedom of speech is upheld with the highest levels of ethics and integrity.
