Rafael Virgen Gonzalez, National Politics Editor
Part of the graduating class of 2026 and James C. Enochs High School, Rafael Virgen is the National Politics Editor for the official Enochs High newspaper, The Eagle Eye. On top of that, he is an integral part of the Enochs’ current events podcast. Rafael plans on attending one of a selection of colleges in California, his main choices being SDSU and UC Santa Cruz. Although he isn’t completely sure about what career he would like to pursue, Rafael’s dream is to continue to live on the West Coast and save enough money to travel to different continents, likely Europe or Asia. His favorite class is, of course, Advanced Journalism with Mr. Campbell, and in his free time, he enjoys drawing and going to the gym. One of Rafael’s main passions is wrestling, which he plans on dedicating much of his time to.
What Rafael loves about journalism: “My favorite part of journalism is just how many different stories you end up hearing. Every person has a completely different perspective on life to share, and I would love to hear everyone.”
What Rafael loves about Enochs: “I would say my favorite part about Enochs is how involved students can be. I love the lunchtime activities and rallies and stuff, and I love how through this class I can help contribute to the school.”
