Hello Eagles,
Since Halloween has finally arrived, you know what that means! Horror movie season!
In honor of this season, I have taken some time to rank the Top 5 Horror Movies!
5th Place: Scream (Franchise)

Ranked 5th on my top 5 horror movies, “Scream” is here because of its name in the community and its nature as a horror movie. It is a staple in the community and it’s one of the go to movies to watch around Halloween time as well as whenever you want a classic horror movie.
4th Place: It: 1990

Ranked 4th on my top 5 horror movies, “It: 1990” is here because of the amount of scare factor throughout the movie. I chose the older version of this movie as compared to the newer one because I find that the older version of the clown is scarier than the new one. Another reason “It: 1990” made its way to my 4th place is because of the nature of the “It”. The main antagonist, being a clown, goes a long way for most people, as clowns are an irrational fear for most people, and the movie also includes many other phobias.
3rd Place: Halloween

Ranked 3rd on my top 5 horror movies, “Halloween”, another staple in the horror genre, earned this spot through years of dominance. “Halloween” is not only here for its name, but because of its background of the movie and how Michael Myers, the gruesome killer, came to be. Using a knife to butcher his prey, this movie is not only gruesome but also keeps the viewer engaged the entire time.
2nd Place: Terrifier (Franchise)

Ranked 2nd on my top 5 horror movies, “Terrifier” the whole franchise has earned this position because of the amount of gore and times you must turn away from sheer fear and disgust. The “Terrifier” franchise is known for being one of those movies that keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout the entire time, biting your nails, wondering who is going to die a gruesome death next.
1st Place: Smile

Ranked 1st on my top 5 horror movies, a relatively new movie, “Smile” is ranked my number one scariest movie due to its nature of being naturally creepy and keeping the viewer on the edge of their seat. The movie’s main theme of a smile also creates an uncanny valley effect as the character looks human in a way that humans cannot look, a smile wider than possible for humans; this movie abuses the human fear of other humans in this way. The ending of the movie seemed to be a good ending, then revealing that the demon won by burning the protagonist in fire, and passing on the smile, only setting up the next movie, was also an incredibly fitting ending for this manipulative movie.
